You might not believe it unless you’ve worked extensively with animals, but there are around 12,000 animal species in the world that are coming close to disappearing from the Earth entirely, never to reproduce or see light ever again unless there’s the very rare chance that a species involves into something similar. Even then, that exact species will never come to life again.
Working closely with National Geographic, photographer Joel Sartore is embarking on project “Photo Ark”, which aims to increase awareness for these animals while showing people the worst possible outcomes for an extinction of a given species.
Not only do you have to go on the very difficult and tiring journey to FIND these animals and make sure it’s the exact species you’re looking for, but you also need to have them hold still for just a few moments so that you can get a good picture of them. And being the wild animals they are, they’re not exactly the type to sit down and pose for a picture!
Good thing that Joel is a skilled photographer who knows what he is doing, because an act like this requires a LOT of patience and focus in order to do things quickly and effectively.
